About Us
Cinematic Vision. Authentic Storytelling.
9G Pictures is a boutique production house in Ho Chi Minh City, making documentaries, TVCs and corporate films for B2B brands.
We began as a core team of cinematographers and remain one: a small group that combines technical craft, cinematic taste and disciplined execution. We work as the visual arm of brands and individuals who need their strategic positioning turned into film that carries weight — building real understanding of what a brand is worth, one frame at a time.
We don't take on everything that comes in. The work we do take, we finish ourselves — script, shoot, edit, grade and sound, under one roof. That is the whole reason the company is small.
The founder
Trần Anh Tuấn
Founder & Cinematographer
Fourteen years behind the camera, and the same job throughout: getting the frame right.
He studied programming at FPT-Aptech, then took an Advanced Diploma in Multimedia at FPT-Arena Multimedia, and learned the rest on location — and keeps learning, through tutorials and online courses such as Shane Hurlbut ASC's Filmmakers Academy. Cameras and techniques change every year; staying current is part of the job.
In 2016 he filmed a documentary in Ladakh, India — the Six Bone Ornaments of Naropa ceremony and the Eco Pad Yatra trek to Igoo Tso lake at 5,400 metres. The years after that ran through commercial work: Sapporo's Mystery Award series, a documentary on Bill Bensley's Hôtel de la Coupole for ELLE Decor International, video producer for Indochina Capital through the Wink Hotel pre-opening, and a farm-to-table documentary for Caviar de Duc shot across five provinces in seven days.
In 2021 he passed VinaCapital's vendor interviews and began filming their investor webinars. In October 2022 he founded 9G Pictures, and the company qualified as a Bureau Veritas Vietnam vendor the same year.
He still shoots, and still grades. As Director of Photography and co-producer he shot A Cycle: The Final Take, the debut feature of director Nguyễn Thanh Phong, released in Vietnamese cinemas in September 2026. As a colourist he graded the TV series Nữ Chủ (VieON), 7 Năm Chưa Cưới Sẽ Chia Tay (VieON) and Đội Điều Tra Số 7 (People's Public Security Cinema) — grading long-form drama teaches you how an image holds up across hundreds of scenes, and that knowledge goes straight back into how he lights and shoots.
His own documentary work follows Tibetan Buddhism: a feature on the building of Lama Gaun monastery in Nepal, filmed across two journeys in 2024 and 2025, and an ongoing project on the traces of Padmasambhava in Ladakh, India.
Clients work with him directly. On a 9G project, the person who reads the brief is the person behind the camera.

Why 9G Pictures
Clients rarely worry about whether a film will look good. They worry about what happens when something goes wrong — the things nobody planned for, on a day that costs money. This is how we take that off your desk.
The core team carries the risk
Every 9G project is owned by people from our core team. The producer builds the production plan and assembles the crew — controlling legal exposure and keeping cost overruns from appearing halfway through. The cinematographer sets the technical workflow and supervises it from pre-production through to the final grade, so the output holds up to spec.
Around them, we build the crew from our own network: people with clear profiles and at least three to five years in the role. Every key position is named in the quote before the contract is signed. You know who is on your set.
Everything we run is licensed — 100% of it. Edit and colour grading go through a DaVinci Resolve workflow from Blackmagic Design, so the project moves from first cut to final grade inside one pipeline: no legal exposure on the software side, and no data lost in the handover between tools.
Cleared for the hard locations
We have filmed on an offshore fabrication yard in Vung Tau and inside the Ialy hydropower plant in Gia Lai, and our founder has filmed on the Ladakh plateau in the Himalayas. Sites like these run on compliance: safety inductions, protective equipment, restricted zones, and schedules that don't move for a camera.
That means a crew that arrives prepared and a shoot that doesn't stall at the gate — and it also means we're used to the documentation and standards international clients work to.
Cinema standard, not service video
Each person in our team works on feature films and cinematic documentaries alongside brand work: A Cycle: The Final Take in Vietnamese cinemas, a feature documentary shot across two journeys to Nepal, colour grading on three television drama series.
That work sets the bar for everything else. The lighting, the lensing, the grade on a corporate film come from the same people, and the same standards, as the ones on a cinema screen.
Data is assets
Protected. Every card is backed up to the 3-2-1 rule before it leaves the set. Footage is offloaded on location to Thunderbolt 4 SSDs running at up to 3,500 MB/s, worked on from Samsung SSDs at 1,000 MB/s, and held as a separate version on LaCie d2 drives at a minimum of 280 MB/s. With global storage prices climbing, that hardware is ours and it is already paid for — your project doesn't get squeezed onto whatever drive is free that week.
Accurate. A ColorChecker goes in front of the camera on every set, so colour is right at the source rather than rescued in the grade. Our monitors are calibrated before each project and at least every three months, and audio is checked on professional monitor speakers — even when the budget has no line for sound mixing in post.
Easy to review, hard to leak. Cuts reach your team through our own Client Review app, opened in a browser on a phone or a laptop with nothing to download or install. Video is unlisted by default; on projects with higher security requirements we move it to our own self-hosted player, so no third party ever holds your material.
How we work
Every project runs through the same six stages. The order doesn't change, and no stage gets skipped because a deadline is tight.
-
01 ·
Briefing & Concept
We start by asking what the film has to achieve, who it speaks to and what the one message is. If the brief is still open, we help close it. Nothing moves forward until the goal is written down.
-
02 ·
Scriptwriting & Storyboarding
Script and storyboard go to you before anything is booked. This is where everyone agrees on the same picture — the alternative is discovering the disagreement in the edit, which costs far more.
-
03 ·
Pre-production
Crew, locations, schedule, equipment and a plan B, all locked. Most of what goes wrong on a shoot day was decided, or left undecided, in this stage.
-
04 ·
Filming
The shoot runs to the approved plan. A lean crew, a clear call sheet, and no improvising the things that should already have been settled.
-
05 ·
Post-production
Edit, colour grade, sound design and Vietnamese–English subtitles, all in house. Your footage is backed up to the 3-2-1 rule from the moment the card leaves the camera. Post is the stage most likely to stretch, and it stretches for two reasons: how long feedback takes to come back, and how many revision rounds a project runs. Both are agreed in the contract before we start.
-
06 ·
Delivery
Delivery in every format you need — long master, social cutdowns, subtitled versions — and to international broadcast and cinema specifications, including DCP packaging to Digital Cinema Initiatives standards for theatrical screening.
Core Values
Simple, but effective
Keep it simple. A lean crew, a lean process, no surplus detail in the frame or in the workflow — not to cut corners, but because everything that isn't needed slows the work down and adds a place for things to go wrong.
Disciplined
We hold to technical standards on every project: naming, formats, colour space, audio levels, backup. Discipline here keeps the pipeline clean and the small errors out. It also means you can see what is going on screen while there is still time to shape it, so the film arrives where you intended it to go.
Creative
A direct, sharp artistic vision — distilling what is original in a brand rather than decorating it. Technical discipline is what makes that possible: when the process is solid, our crew and partners have room to take creative risks. We earn that trust through process, not promises.
Trusted by leading brands
Most of our clients are corporations with a formal vendor process. We qualified for VinaCapital through an interview round in 2021, for Bureau Veritas Vietnam in 2022, for Gamuda Land Malaysia through the SAP Ariba Network in 2023, and for Bureau Veritas S.E.A and Samsung SDS S.E.A in Singapore in the years after. Each one stayed.
